Create & Sell Your Canva AI Artwork to Pile Greenback
Options are endless and the time to try is NOW!
In a world of copyright rules there seems to be some 'amazingly' fresh air blowing from Canva.
I use the superlative because the door of creating (and perhaps selling) stunningly imaginative artworks is open to anyone who can conjure up words to have them readied by generative AI.
First though, let me be clear on one point.
Many AI tools can do and have been doing this 'magic' for quite some time, but I'm talking about the recent relaunch of Canva AI plus Dream Lab.
In October 2024, Dream Lab was launched as a new AI image generator by Canva.
Now, even though they are 2 separate menu-tabs on the sidebar, Dream Lab is supposedly not separate from Canva AI, rather a new feature that expands Canva AI's capabilities for image generation.
Pro users get 500 Dream Lab credits every month, so here is an experience I want to share.
Let's picturize a lion, the king of the jungle, sporting the stripes of a tiger (image below).
What would you label the picture?
A spirited tigon looking for mate!
Can you sell it
I couldn't find a categorical reply to it.
However, in the section, Selling AI-generated images, Canva clarifies the issue as under:
Images generated with AI features (e.g. Magic Edit, DALL·E, and Imagen by Google Cloud) are not covered by Canva’s Content License Agreement. You can use these images for any lawful purpose, including selling them, as long as you comply with our AI Product Terms.
Mind you, people do sell assets created in Canva, design templates for example, just as anyone can sell presentation templates made in PowerPoint.

The popularity and acceptability of design tools is largely dependent on millions of users who are not designers themselves and therefore they need designs made by others for their business or career.
Design companies like Canva or Adobe know this, and so the odds of restrictions on selling AI artworks is likely to remain a distant possibility.
That said, why use Canva
Well, unlike other generative AI tools that offer broader applications, Canva AI is tailored for visual communication. And that makes it particularly useful for creating visually compelling content quickly and easily.
Let me mention 4 aspects of Canva AI that score over other variants:
Friendly UI: Beginners will find the user interface clean, helpful, and inviting to start something right away.
Focus on Design: If you haven't thought of how to use the artwork you created, don't worry. Canva AI guides you along with tools for creating presentations, social media graphics, videos, and more.
Content Library: Premium users can access 100M+ photos, graphics, video, audio and fonts that form Canva's vast enviable library. Together, they broaden your creative output.
AI Foundation: Canva's Magic Studio tool, Dream Lab, is powered by Leonardo.Ai’s Phoenix model which turns text prompts into stunning visuals.
In fact, Canva AI is a suite of AI-powered tools integrated into its design platform. As a user what you get is a series of streamlined creative processes working behind the scene with the ultimate goal of enhancing your productivity.
Shall we see some examples
I've been playing with Canva AI's image generation abilities plus that by Dream Lab. The results are astounding.
Let me share some here:
1
Prompt: Create a split image of a luxury car, one half in the countryside, the other half outside a swanky mall (Canva AI).
2
Prompt: Create a skyscraper on the sea having the looks of a poor man's hut (Dream Lab).
3
Prompt: Create a skyscraper on a busy street with dense vertical forest on one side of it with monkeys hanging from the trees in the vertical forest (Dream Lab).
In summary
The options are endless, not only for creating visuals that make little sense, but also for creating educative contents. Visuals from Canva AI will solve a big problem that copywriters and other content creators face.
At some point in the future, the AI visuals may come with part animations, making communication and education a lot simpler than today.
Exciting times ahead!
